The only place to be on the morning of Saturday 26th May is Stoke. That might possibly the only time in recorded history that sentence has ever been uttered but then Fighting Talk has never come live from the city’s Britannia Stadium before!
In what will be BBC 5Live’s biggest ever outside broadcast, the morning kicks off at 10am as Nick Hancock hosts a special all Stoke celebrity edition of Fighting Talk broadcast live on BBC Radio Stoke before handing over to the one, and as far as we know, only Colin Murray at 11am for the show ‘proper’ as they say at the FA when talking about the later rounds of the FA Cup.
The BIG DAY OUT panel will feature FT superstars Martin Kelner, John Rawling and Bob Mills and Potteries icon Nick Hancock. With live music from Ash and The Enemy and live comedy from the world’s funniest German, Henning Wehn it promises to be the best few hours at Stoke’s home ground since last season’s 4-0 pasting of Newcastle (sorry Mike).
That’s Fighting Talk live from Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium, Saturday 26th May from 10am. Details of how to obtain tickets for the event can be found at bbc.co.uk/5live. Tickets cost £10 each plus a transaction fee.
A very funny and shamelessly subjective take on the very latest entertainment news, ‘Random’ will be hosted by Johnny Vaughan and Kim Taylor Bennett and feature unexpurgated opinions on all the nation’s TV, film and music stories, slightly random guests and a whole heap of hilarious video mash-ups of ‘all ya favourite’ telly shows.
We hope that one day Colin Paterson might get to describe it as “a quirky sideways look at what’s hot and what’s not in the wacky world of telly and pop”. Even though it’s not.
We’ll try and make a fuss about it when it’s launched so you know it’s on.
World’s End is producing the UK content for new BBC America’s series ‘The Nerdist’ hosted by brilliant US comic and podcaster Chris Hardwick.
We’ve shot items with Nerdist icons Simon Pegg…
…David Tennant…
and… deep breath… Thomas Dolby! Naturally we are contractually obliged to make lame references to Thomas’ back catalogue at this point, so here goes. Yes, Thomas Dolby… who was really hyperactive when we met up. Yeah, he tried blinding us with science which made us shock the monkey. Oh no… that’s Peter Gabriel.
World’s End Productions’ FIGHTING TALK last night won Gold at the SONY Radio Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel. A richly deserved result. Well done to all concerned.
World’s End’s multi award winning Saturday morning topical sports panel show ‘Fighting Talk’ has once more been nominated for a SONY Radio Award. Our cult BBC Radio 5Live show previously won Gold in 2006 when hosted by Christian O’Connell and a Silver two years later for current chairman Colin Murray.
The awards will be held at the Grosvenor Hotel on Monday 9th May. The show has been breaking ratings records in 2010/11 and has never been more popular – so our fingers are crossed for some well-deserved recognition for Colin, Simon, Mike, Charlie, & Giles – the life blood of FT.
Tune in to BBC 5Live at 11am on Saturday 16th April for Fighting Talk’s first ever ‘Music Special’ to co-incide with National Record Store Day.

Joining Colin Murray will be Fun Lovin’ Crim’s Huey Morgan, Steve Lamacq, Ed O’Brian from Radiohead and that collossus of the music industry, Dion Dublin! No seriously… he’s in a band.
He is. Playing ‘the Dube’ with ‘The Establishment’. And they’ll also be live in the studio. Top drawer punditry, comedy and live music… is it Studio 5 at TV Centre or the Pyramid Stage at Glasto?
It’s the first one.
World’s End have a brand new site, check it out.
Many thanks to the genius of Lloyd Seymour (née Christmas).
